The Art of Scent
How Fragrance is Applied
When applying fragrance, the most effective method is to focus on your pulse points. These are areas on your body where blood vessels are closest to the skin’s surface, such as your wrists, neck, behind your ears, and even the inside of your elbows. These spots give off more heat making the area of your skin higher in temperature, which helps the fragrance to develop and diffuse more effectively, allowing the scent to last longer and being able to smell it at a further distance. By applying fragrance to these areas, you’re helping the scent molecules interact with your body, making it more personal and unique.
Do's & Don'ts
It’s best to hold the fragrance bottle about 3-6 inches away from your skin when spraying to have an even application and avoid over-concentrating the scent in one area. A couple of sprays on each pulse point should be enough to give a balanced effect with a long lasting smell. When applying, the worst thing to do is to rub your wrists together after applying the fragrance, because this can break down the scent and cause it to dissolve more quickly.
Alternative Method
Another way to keep a long lasting nice smell is by using matching body products, such as body wash or deodorants, from the same fragrance line. This layering technique, known as “scent layering” helps to build a longer lasting fragrance smell.
